Memorial Day… Honoring Those Who Sacrificed Their Lives for Our Freedoms

Memorial Day, observed annually in the United States on the last Monday of May, is a time of remembrance and reflection. It is a day dedicated to honoring the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation’s freedoms. These brave individuals have laid down their lives so that we may continue to enjoy the liberties and rights that define our society.

On Memorial Day, when you are with your family or friends enjoying the weekend, remember to pay tribute to the courage and valor of those who have died in the line of duty. Ceremonies are held at cemeteries, monuments, and veterans’ memorials across the nation. Flags are lowered to half-staff, and moments of silence are observed. It is a solemn occasion, marked by deep respect and gratitude for those who have given their lives to protect our freedoms.

One of the most cherished freedoms that these heroes have fought to uphold is the right to live in a free society. This encompasses a wide range of liberties, including freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, and freedom of the press. These fundamental rights allow us to express our thoughts, gather with others, and stay informed, which are cornerstones of a democratic nation.

Another crucial freedom preserved by the sacrifices of our military is the right to vote. This democratic right empowers citizens to participate in the governance of their country, ensuring that leaders are chosen by the people and for the people. Voting is a powerful tool in shaping the future of our nation, and it stands as a testament to the principles of democracy that our soldiers have defended.

As we observe Memorial Day, it is essential to reflect on the significance of the freedoms we enjoy and the tremendous cost at which they have been secured. The selflessness and bravery of those who have died in service to our country are a profound reminder of the value of liberty and the responsibilities that come with it.

Let us honor their memory not only through ceremonies and tributes but also by exercising the rights they fought to protect. By participating in our democratic processes, advocating for justice, and upholding the principles of freedom, we ensure that their sacrifices were not in vain.

Memorial Day serves as a poignant reminder of the bond between the past, present, and future. It is a day to commemorate the fallen, support the living, and cherish the freedoms that define our nation. As we bow our heads in remembrance, let us pledge to honor their legacy by safeguarding the rights and liberties for which they gave their lives.

I wish you all a beautiful Memorial Weekend, God bless America and God bless our Military.

Message From The Chairwoman

Bexar County Republicans!

Happy Spring, Patriots! As we step into 2025, I am energized and inspired by the incredible journey ahead. First, after a landslide election victory in 2024, President Trump in less than 40 days is off to a historic start. The President is in full warp speed of delivering on the promises he made to the American people. The President signed more executive orders on his first day in office than any other president in history. These orders include: securing the border, deporting criminal illegal immigrants, unleashing American prosperity, increase government transparency, and the President has already secured over $1 trillion in historic new investments. He has ensured the elimination of discriminatory DEI practices, and he has reinstituted merit-based hiring in the federal government. Let us not forget the appointment of Elon Musk and creation of D.O.G.E. (Department of Government Efficiency) Also, his Cabinet appointments are all “America First” selections. (You can find Trump’s Cabinet listed directly below my message.)

In January, I had the privilege of traveling to Washington, D.C. with many San Antonians and thousands of resolute patriots to witness President Trump’s historic inauguration. It was incredible seeing Republicans of all stripes come together to celebrate such a momentous occasion. It was a powerful reminder that when Republicans stand together, there is nothing we cannot accomplish.

On January 14th, the 89th Texas Legislative Session convened. I had the honor to attend the Investiture of the Texas State Senators. As the Texas Legislature begins its session, I ask for your prayers for our State Representatives and Senators. These leaders are tasked with solving the largest problems our state faces and will face. May they be guided by wisdom, courage, and a commitment to the principles that make Texas great.

Looking ahead, the Bexar County Republican Party staff and volunteers are working tirelessly as we prepare for the May 3rd elections. We made significant strides in 2024, but our task is far from over. I have made it my mission to ensure the Republican Party of Bexar County supports every Republican candidate and generates voter participation. The party held a successful Mayoral Forum and is preparing to host a City Council candidate Forum. My commitment to have a Republican running in every single race on the ballot came close to fruition, we successfully have 9 out of the 11 races. We will continue to build on our successes and take back our city of San Antonio!

I want to leave you today with a charge. Our party cannot afford to become overconfident after our victories in 2024; however, if we can maximize the enthusiasm of the November voter turnout, we have an opportunity to win some of these local races. If you wish to get involved, please call the office at 210.824.9445, and ask for the contact details of your Precinct Chair, RPBC’s Campaign Activities Chair or RPBC’s Volunteer Coordinator to get engaged. If your precinct is vacant, consider running! This is how we will win, with more “boots on the ground.”

God bless each of you and God bless Texas.
