Safety is our top priority, and everyone must be aware of the rules of engagement when we approach these communities. As we are dealing with a D-16 blue district, the idea is not to convince them to change parties, but to change their current status. As we know, the incumbent has been in Congress for over a decade and has not helped his constituents. This is our opportunity (as a party) to turn this blue district by offering a better choice that will fight for the constituents' problems, not by arguing about our political parties. The facts are clear for the 20th CD: First: Economic Failures! • There is a High Poverty Level in the district (18.4% to be exact) • There is economic segregation in the district ($56,708 Median Household Income, which came down in one year from $61,570) • There is NO growth or support for small businesses (4 restaurants closed within the district) Second: Public Safety Concerns! • There is a high crime rate in the district (6.95% Violent & 54.05% Property Crimes) • There is a high homeless population in the district (2nd highest homeless population in Texas) • There is a high recidivism among youth (25% assessed as high risk to reoffend) Third: Educational Catastrophe! • Need to improve reading programs (52% students are below grade level in reading) • Need to improve Math programs (Only 18% students show proficiency in math) • There are too many schools with an F rating (Edgewood, Judson, Harlandale) https://www.drbaezforcongress.com/volunteer See more details •
